With the secondary addressed in the first round, the Saints turn their sights to an ailing pass rush that is in desperate need of help. They don’t need to look any further than UCLA’s Takkarist McKinley. He’s is an athletic freak that possesses a tremendous amount of explosiveness and burst. He is a strong player that relies on his physical skill-set to wear down lineman and get into the backfield. He is far from a finished product, but possesses all of the raw potential and measurables to be a worthwhile project for this defense.
The Vikings adding more help up front only makes sense, especially with their first pick in this draft. The trend that newly successful teams have started (see Oakland) in focusing on the trenches is going to continue to be the strategy du jour in rebuilding NFL teams. And while Minnesota doesn’t immediately spark thoughts of a rebuilding franchise, they’re still a few pieces away from being a legitimate postseason threat. Hopefully, with health at the skill positions and fresh faces on the offensive front, this team can become a threat in Teddy Bridgewater’s return.
