32. San Francisco 49ers (via NE)

The San Francisco 49ers are in dire need of a quarterback. Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick have both proven they aren’t what head coach Chip Kelly needs if he’s going to make things work out there. Much will depend on how the front office is restructured but odds say they will try to find somebody who fits what Kelly wants to do on offense. Historically he does his best work with QBs who can get the ball out fast and extend plays with their legs.
Deshaun Watson suffered with accuracy problems during much of the season at Clemson, but he finished strong to once again put his team in contention for a national title. He might be the most athletic in this class, able to run for first downs when forced out of the pocket. His release is quick and compact and when in a rhythm he can throw strikes. He’s also a competitor who doesn’t like to lose. If a team can get him over his ball placement issues, he’ll be a good one.
. QB. Clemson. Deshaun Watson . 31. player. 42
