21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Michigan. Jabrill Peppers . 21. player. 48. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense took a big step forward during the second half of 2016, due in large part to the additions of Noah Spence up front and Vernon Hargreaves at cornerback. Even so this is not a unit that is ready to take its place about the best in the NFL. One area that still needs attention is safety. Just looking at their amount of changes at the position over the past few months is evidence enough of that.
Jabrill Peppers being available this late in the 1st round will shock a lot of people but sometimes that happens. He may be one of the best athletes in the draft class with size, strength and speed but he also doesn’t have any position mastered. Some see him as a safety, others a linebackers and still more as a running back. Odds are the former is his best position, but he hasn’t yet developed the instincts for it. If he does, he’ll be a perennial Pro Bowler.
. S
