The 49ers have gotten their quarterback, now they need to start surrounding him with weapons. Of which they have none. Torrey Smith was a poor free agent experiment. It’s never a good sign when their leading receiver is Jeremy Kerley, a career backup from New York, with less than 500 receiving yards total. How can Kizer be expected to succeed in that Chip Kelly offense, or any offense without quality targets.

Courtland Sutton is not a household name among draft pundits. Playing at SMU has a lot to do with that. Then again Emmanuel Sanders played there. So maybe that program has a good eye for receivers. Sutton has plenty of intriguing qualities from his sizable 6’3″ frame and sub-4.5 speed. He can play the possession game but doesn’t mind taking it deep when asked. His production backs up the talent too (1,246 yards and 10 TDs).
. WR. SMU. Courtland Sutton . 14. player. 42
