Why are the Seattle Seahawks so weird this season?

What is going on with the Seattle Seahawks this season? One week they are taking down the Patriots, other weeks they score five points against the Bucs…

The Seattle Seahawks are officially one of the weirdest teams in the NFL to me. I respect them as much as I could possibly respect a team. After all, this is the team that won Super Bowl 48 in more than convincing fashion against my Denver Broncos.

This is one of the strongest teams in the NFL, but at the same time, they are one of the most enigmatic.

How in the world does one of the league’s best teams score just five points against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? How does one of the league’s best teams end a game in a 6-6 tie? How does one of the league’s best teams lose to the Los Angeles Rams by a score of 9-3?

While the Seahawks have lost some head-scratching games, they’ve also come away with some huge wins, most notably a road win against the New England Patriots a couple of weeks ago.

Of course, injuries and inconsistency at the running back position don’t help. An offensive line that isn’t quite gelling (to put it nicely) doesn’t help either.

The Seahawks don’t have the same dominant defense they had in 2013 when they beat the Broncos in the Super Bowl either, but this is still a team that has a phenomenal talent at QB in Russell Wilson, excellent skill position players led by Doug Baldwin and Jimmy Graham, and elite defenders at every level.

Is it merely injuries that are hindering this team from reaching its full potential? Is the absence of Marshawn Lynch this devastating?

The Seahawks are still a team that I would be afraid of in the NFC. Despite their lack of consistency this season, they are still currently the second seed behind only the Dallas Cowboys, and if I were Dallas, I wouldn’t want the Seahawks coming to town in the playoffs whatsoever.

Like I said, this Seahawks team is weird to me. One week they might put up five points against a defense as average as Tampa Bay, the next week they might win a shootout with arguably the best team in the NFL.

Regardless of how strange the regular season winds up being for them, this is a team that can do some serious damage in the playoffs.
