9. Chicago Bears

57. It’s clearer than ever that the Chicago Bears roster is nowhere near ready for playoff football. Injuries have exposed once again how pitiful their depth is. One really good player likely isn’t going to change their fortunes. At least not fast enough for Ryan Pace and John Fox to save their jobs. They need as many talented bodies as they can get. That means stockpiling more picks. So they traded down not once but twice in order to collect a series of picks for their coffers. After that it was a matter of going best player available.
Pass rush remains a major priority for the Bears. So far Leonard Floyd has been a disappointment due to injuries. The same goes for Pernell McPhee. In truth Willie Young is the only dependable edge presence they have. Drafting that spot again might seem repetitive, but there is no way Fangio’s defense can function without a rush. Derek Barnett has proven himself a consistent, aggressive quarterback hunter who just gets into the backfield whenever and however he wants. He’s got the size, length, violent hands and athleticism for the job.

. DE. Tennessee. Derek Barnett . 9. player
