The latest 2017 NFL mock draft features another considerable shift to the pecking order at the top including an unbelievable newcomer in the top three.

What in the world is happening with the Carolina Panthers? They’re playing like a one-dimensional team all of sudden after going 15-1 last season. It’s hard to imagine they could end up falling so far, but the record isn’t lying. How will their presence impact the rest of the top 10 is perhaps a more interesting question. Never mind what such a talent they could get might do for that roster.

Much depends on what happens at the start, and it’s a bit of a shocker.

1. Cleveland Browns

1. player. 53. What might be projected right now is almost certainly never the case when the actual draft rolls around. At the moment it’s clear the Cleveland Browns are absolutely in the market for a quarterback. Can Cody Kessler be the guy? The coaches insist it’s possible but the odds are against it. That is a position this team just cannot continue to bungle. The best way to lock it down is with the top overall pick, giving them the greatest odds for finding that franchise guy they haven’t had since Bernie Kosar.
He’s not quite at the top of boards yet, but nobody should be surprised when North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky occupies that spot. He more than any other of the big names in this potential 2017 class looks like an NFL quarterback. In addition to understanding pro concepts, he is productive, accurate, smart with the football, mobile, tough and can throw it with some zip. His ability to beat some good teams this year further proves he has the talent worth building around.
. QB. North Carolina. Mitch Trubisky
