The news of Kevin Johnson suffering a broken foot deflates the Texans after overtime thriller at home

First round pick Kevin Johnson will be out indefinitely after suffering his second Jones fracture in his foot in a year.

The sophomore cornerback played through the broken bone in his foot, and missed the entire preseason with the injury.

Johnson’s injury is just one of many in the Texans secondary. Safety K.J. Dillion reportedly tore his ACL against the Colts, and Jonathan Joseph is battling an arm injury.

Houston drafted Johnson with the 16th overall pick out of Wake Forrest in 2015. Johnson had nine interceptions in four years with the Demon Deacons, and was the second of four corners to be a first round pick last year.

With injuries across the board in the Houston secondary, expect to see more from Hard Knocks star Charles James.

Cornerbacks currently available on the free agent market include Antonio Cromartie, Cortez Allen, and Keenan Lewis. With little options in that area of the market, keep an eye on practice squads across the league. Houston currently has no cornerbacks on their practice squad, but they can sign away whomever they want on another teams squad.
