Purdue will be looking for a new head coach after relieving Darrell Hazell after Saturdays loss

After four seasons at Purdue, Darrell Hazell is officially out as the Boilmakers head coach.

Purdue was 3-3 this season prior to the move, and recently lost at home to Iowa 49-35. Hazell had a 9-33 record in his fourth season with the Boilmakers, and had just three wins against Big Ten opponents.

Wide receivers coach Gerad Parker will reportedly be named the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Hazell was hired by Purdue after just two seasons as the head coach at Kent State. He finished his final season at Kent State with an 11-3 record before leaving for Purdue. He had previously coached at Ohio State for six years.

Purdue was averaging 27.5 points per game this year, tied for 77th in college football. Their defense has been allowing 34.3 points per game, the 18th worst by a Division I team.

Recently fired LSU coach Les Miles has been rumored to be a candidate, although there is no immediate list of potential replacements known.
