Jacksonville Jaguars at Chicago Bears, 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, CBS
In this battle of the one-win teams, we have 1-3 Jacksonville team, coming off of a bye, in a very attractive matchup against a Chicago squad which appears to be sliding on a slippery slope to a top-five pick in next year’s NFL Draft.
Fortunately for the Bears, Brian Hoyer has been playing winning football. But on the contrary, there’s simply not enough talent on this Bears roster, top to bottom, to put together consistent play on a weekly basis. It’s nice to see Jordan Howard playing well at running back, too, but the lack of the clutch gene on both sides is beyond concerning.
The Jaguars present a unique storyline here, still very much a contender in the AFC if they can string together a few wins here in October. Two of their losses – against the Ravens and Packers – were within one score, and they were able to out-score the Colts in London to pick up their first win of the year. You’d think that after a bye with advanced preparation time, Gus Bradley’s squad is poised to pick up a win here on the road.
Luckily enough, they won’t have to be perfect against Chicago’s struggling efforts. As long as Blake Bortles holds onto the football and the defense is successful in limiting deep balls, there should be little concern in the Jacksonville camp.
Jaguars go on the road to beat Chicago, 24-17.
