5. Carolina Panthers (via CHI)

Alabama. Jonathan Allen . 5. player. 87. The loss of Josh Norman is looking worse and word every week for the Carolina Panthers. Seeing Julio Jones gash them for 300 yards receiving certainly must’ve made his day. However this only masks a bigger problem that defense is having. The pass rush. It has really not been pulling its weight. So far in 2016 they have nine sacks. No one player has more than one. That isn’t going to get it done. Not with the type of 4-3 scheme they run where the defensive line is required to apply all the pressure.
That is why they decide to make the move up the board to grab Jonathan Allen. The Alabama standout is one of the most disruptive defensive linemen in the entire class. He’s a big, strong and consistent pass rusher who can move inside or outside depending on situation. He’s big enough for defensive tackle but also quick and explosive enough for defensive end. Best of all he’s consistent. There is no relaxing in his motor from play to play.
. DE
