Dolphins offense actually got worse under Adam Gase
Joe Philbin caught a lot of flak for the problems that the Miami Dolphins experienced the past few years. Week by week it’s turning out the man might’ve been doing more than people realized. That is especially true regarding the offense. Ryan Tannehill had back-to-back years of over 4,000 yards passing and 51 touchdown passes combined. So far in 2016 under the supposedly superior Adam Gase, the quarterback has actually taken a major step backwards.
Through five games he has thrown for 1,272 yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions. He’s on track to set a career high in turnovers and come nowhere close 4,000 yards passing or even 20 touchdowns. That is an indictment on Gase every bit as much as him. The head coach was hired because it was felt he’d solve whatever problems bedeviled the offense. Instead it appears Philbin gets a little bit of vindication for the job he did in spite of the mistakes.
