Martellus Bennett trade is paying off huge

Bill Belichick isn’t just a great coach for what he does on the field. One of the trademarks of his legacy will be his ability to foresee things happening and preparing contingency plans accordingly. A perfect example is the trade for Martellus Bennett. On the surface it didn’t look like the New England Patriots offense needed tight end help. They have the best one in football with Rob Gronkowski. Nevertheless they felt it couldn’t hurt to have another quality option at that position.

Sure enough Gronkowski has battled injuries from the start of the preseason. Not to worry though. Bennett has shouldered a good portion of the load to ease the pressure on him. Through five games he already has 314 yards and four touchdowns including three against the Cleveland Browns. People felt this tight end tandem could be deadly once Tom Brady got back. So far the results are as expected. Another quality trade by the Patriots.
