A bobbled field goal snap may get Mike McCoy fired

If there is any team that fits the description of snake-bit in 2016, that has to be the San Diego Chargers. Every week they seem to have a lead or have chance to take the lead in the 4th quarter. Yet invariably they always somehow find a way to blow it. That is a big reason head coach Mike McCoy is rumored to be on the chopping block. Such collapses fall squarely in his lap, even though not everything can or should be blamed on him. It’s reality.

This is how far things have sunk. Again with a chance to extend a game at least into overtime against Oakland, the Chargers may have sealed their coaches’ fate. How? A mishandled snap by the holder on a field goal attempt. There was nothing wrong with the snap itself. The ball simply slipped out of his grasp. Now McCoy stares down the barrel at a 1-4 start to the season. If he’s not fired in the coming week, odds are it’s merely delaying the inevitable at this point.
