While “Deflategate” is officially over, Tom Brady will not forget the four weeks he missed and will make the league pay
A saga two years in the making is coming to a close with the return of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. After sitting out the first four weeks of the season due to suspension, one of the all-time greats will make his return to the field against one of the all-time worst teams, the Browns.
Brady has a history of playing in games after being out for an extended period of time. When he returned in 2009 following an ACL tear in the prior season opener, he threw for 378 yards and two touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills.
Here’s what the NFL Mocks staff had to say about the return of Brady later today.
Matthew Holowiak: An unnamed AFC coach earlier this week told bleacher report something along the lines of “thanks Roger Goodell, Tom Brady is going to kill everybody” and I agree. Tom Brady is straight up pissed off and the rest of the league is his new punching bag. Be fearful NFL, the Patriots just got its field general back.
Sam Beckenstein: As a Cleveland fan, I’m expecting the worst
Eric Robinson: Since I found out that Brady was suspended for just four games, I’ve wanted him in every fantasy team I own. An upset Brady is a dangerous Brady. These next 12 games will be the Tom Brady “Redemption” Tour and the first stop is Cleveland, Ohio. Career-high numbers may be far-fetched due to missed games but I won’t be surprised if he has a number of four or five TD games.
