Even at the start of the second week the NFL hot seat is filling up fast with several head coaches who know their leashes are getting shorter.

Most of the time teams don’t make any decisions until at least midseason. So overreaction can be rampant this early in the year. Still if there are some names out there who should really start feeling the heat, these are the ones to keep a close eye on.

HOT:  Rex Ryan

The owner who hired him is no longer there and now his bid to save his job is in a deep hole as the Buffalo Bills have started 0-2. Both losses were close and frustrating. First in a tight defensive affair and then in a shootout. The fact they were to AFC team they might be battling for a wild card spot makes it even worse. It’s just hard seeing him turn things around at this point. His job will likely go to somebody else next year.

WARM:  Gus Bradley

Everybody continues to pump up how talented and promising the Jacksonville Jaguars are but they just keep finding ways to lose. They had every opportunity to knock off the Green Bay Packers in the opener but a series of questionable calls by head coach Gus Bradley doomed them. At what points does his inability to win get called into question?

MILD:  Mike McCoy

Some guys just have the worst luck imaginable. A year after watching injuries decimate the offensive line, San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy had to watch star receiver Keenan Allen go down with a season-ended injury. Then of course was the collapse against Kansas City. McCoy isn’t a bad coach but his remarkable streak of misfortune may end up getting him fired anyway.

SHOULD BE ON SEAT BUT ISN’T:  Jeff Fisher

The grumblings are growing louder than ever about Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher. Even as the team seems to be bottoming out after an ugly opener, his spot seems more secure than ever. Word is ownership is prepared to give him a contract extension. This despite the fact he’s never produced a winning season during his time in charge. Perhaps that’s the price of moving to a new city and drafting a 1st round quarterback. Stability is most important right now.
