College Football Game Preview: #11 Texas vs UTEP
The Texas Longhorns stunned the nation by not only defeating then #10 Notre Dame, but by having what looked to be a complete offense for the first time since Colt McCoy left.
In McCoy’s absence we saw his young brother Case, Garrett Gilbert, David Ash, Tyrone Swoopes and Jerrod Heard all fail to produce at a high level. The emergence of Shane Buechele, the true freshman in a game against the number 10 team in the country shows that Texas finally has a quarterback for the future.
The run game was also a factor. D’onta Foreman showed why he should be on everybody’s sleeper list for the 2017 draft. He’s a big back at 6’2 and 250 pounds. Between Foreman and Chris Warren, the Longhorns have a stable in the backfield.
This week the Longhorns take on UTEP at Darrell K. Royal Stadium.

UTEP shouldn’t be too much for this Texas team to handle. Though with the new number 11 ranking and vibes from last week, it’s possible the Longhorns start a little slow.
UTEP features a talented running back in Aaron Jones. Jones ran for 249 yards last week against New Mexico State and will look to continue his rampage against the Longhorns.
He suffered an injury in 2015 and is back in action after almost a year away after a strong 2014 campaign. It will be up to the Longhorns strong but inexperienced line to keep him contained.
Shane Buechele should once again see plenty of playing time as the starting quarterback. One can also bet the 18 wheeler package will make it’s way out a few times.
If the Longhorns are alive early, we might get a chance to see some of the depth players today before a game against Cal next week.

Prediction
The Longhorns are talented and deserve to be ranked among the top 25. Some may say the number 11 ranking is unjustified. Against UTEP, they should be able to hold that ranking for at least another week.
