Why Virginia Tech Will Win

The Hokies have the pleasure of a solid offensive line with four starters returning from 2015 who will open holes for running back Travon McMillian. The redshirt sophomore is only one piece to the puzzle on offense for the Hokies. Wide receiver Isaiah Ford is the team’s #1 wideout and will see plenty of Sutton and the talented Vols secondary. 6’7 tight end Bucky Hodges gives Virginia Tech a legitimate mismatch as the agile pass catcher can line up literally anywhere. Dual-threat Jerod Evans also brings the element of zone-read to the offense, which gives Tennessee a number of aspects to gameplan for.

On defense, the task will be simple by Foster and his crew: Dial up pressure for Dobbs the entire game. Dobbs inconsistency and questionable decision-making is the result of rattling the quarterback, which is music to Foster’s ears. Expect enough blitzes that will make your spin from linebackers Tremaine Edwards and Andrew Motuapuaka. The Hokies would want to make Dobbs defeat them which means they will attempt to cancel out the run game of the Vols with key defensive linemen such as Ken Ekanem, Nigel Williams, and Woody Baron.
