Sleepers:

Chicago Bears

The loss of Adam Gase seems trivial at this point. Everybody knew he wasn’t sticking around long in Chicago. Still, one could say his brief time there was the last chance for Jay Cutler to fully secure his job long-term. Now the veteran is back in the hands of an inexperienced offensive coordinator (Dowell Loggains) behind a shaky offensive line. History shows bad things follow when that happens. With no more guaranteed money to worry about, there is a strong chance the Chicago Bears make a move to finally end his roller coaster era.

Pittsburgh Steelers

There is no doubt Ben Roethlisberger is the core of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ success the past few years. When he plays, they win. That doesn’t mean the risks aren’t rising about his ability to keep going. Not only is he in his mid-30s now, his body has taken a serious beat over the years. Almost to the point where it would seem like he’s 10-20 years older due to the injuries. Throw in the fact that Landry Jones is no longer a competant backup and this is something the Steelers can’t ignore.

Kansas City Chiefs

Given the team continues to load up on quarterbacks with mid to late round picks, it stands to reason the Kansas City Chiefs are searching for potential options to replace Alex Smith at some point. He remains the same competent, careful game manager he’s been for years and it was enough to win them a playoff game. Even so the reality lingers that he’s unlikely to get any better. If this Chiefs team can continue to think Super Bowl, they have to consider trying to find a talent upgrade.
