For the Indianapolis Colts, the return of star quarterback Andrew Luck also means the return of the immense hype for wide receiver Donte Moncrief…

The Indianapolis Colts are going to have to score a lot of points this season, and with the return of Andrew Luck comes also the return of the hype train for wide receiver Donte Moncrief.

This is especially true if you are talking to fantasy football players, who absolutely love the prospect of Luck and Moncrief getting a full season together now in Moncrief’s third year in the NFL.

Last season, obviously, Luck was not only down when he played, but mostly out for the whole season. He was a disappointing top 20 pick for some (me) and when Luck wasn’t in the lineup, it just drove down the value for every other player on the Colts’ offense.

That didn’t prevent Moncrief from making strides in year two, as the former Ole Miss rebel racked up 64 catches for 733 yards and six touchdowns, all of which were nearly double the numbers he posted as a rookie (with Luck!).

That kind of jump from year one to year two without Andrew Luck has got many in a tizzy over where the right spot to draft Moncrief is, what his ceiling is with the presence of T.Y. Hilton, and how frequently we can expect plays like this:

There’s no question that Moncrief is a phenomenal talent, and if you’re looking for someone to surprise all of your non-NFL Mocks reading friends with at fantasy draft time, take a chance on this guy. With Luck back under center, his ceiling is incredibly high and he has great chemistry with his QB.

The stars have aligned for Moncrief to have a big year with the Colts, and with the defense being as bad as it looks on paper, this is a team that could be throwing the ball a ton this season, playing catch-up and having to score a lot.

Fantasy players aren’t going to be upset about it.
