CON:  Secondary is hurt AND can’t cover

Kyle Fuller? Out following knee surgery. Tracy Porter? Out with a concussion. The Bears secondary but mostly the corner position wasn’t all that strong even before the preseason started this month. So of course they suffered injuries to the only two players they could absolutely not afford to lose. Such is the Bears’ luck these days. Never mind the fact they continued to look average against average quarterbacks (Sanchez, Garoppolo, Smith).

PRO:  Defensive line should be really good

Despite that ugly loss to the Chiefs, there were plenty of indications on defense that they are looking mighty good up front. Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman and Jonathan Bullard each took turns generating flash plays that show just how improved this team is along the line of scrimmage. They are younger and faster. If they’re doing this without much help from the coaching staff in terms of scheming, then it’s only going to get better.
