Nate Orchard (Cleveland Browns)

There were a number of options worth considering. Robert Griffin III would’ve been a fun choice. Don’t forget he’s been that far before and Hue Jackson is known for working some magic on quarterbacks. Then there is running back Duke Johnson who figures to get a much larger workload in the offense. Or perhaps overlooked linebacker Christian Kirksey builds on his strong finish to last season as a starter. Reasonable choices all, but instead the nod goes to another on defense.

Nate Orchard isn’t remember by most outside of Cleveland for the simple reason that he’s not a former 1st round pick and had just three sacks as a rookie. At the same time he also made a number of other plays including an interception and a forced fumble. He was considered one of the top pass rushers in his draft class and enters a defensive system under Ray Horton that can maximize what he does best. No doubt Orchard is going to surprise a lot of people.
