NFL Players Most Likely To Reach 1st Pro Bowl In 2016
By Erik Lambert
Willie Young (Chicago Bears)
It may seem odd to select a player who is into his 30s now and spent most of his career as a rotational guy. However, the past two years have shown that the light is finally turned on for Willie Young. He collected 10 sacks in 2014 for the Chicago Bears and then 6.5 more in 2015 despite initially not getting the nod as starter at outside linebacker when Vic Fangio took over as defensive coordinator. It took some time to adjust but signs indicate he’s far more comfortable now than the beginning of last year.
Young is also feeling much more comfortable after the Bears handed him a contract extension. There are no distractions and every sign in training camp and preseason show he’s ready to possibly have his best season. Though Pernell McPhee gets more of the attention because of his personality and the big contract he signed, the bottom line is Young has proven the most consistent and durable pass rusher Chicago has.
