Bashaud Breeland (Washington Redskins)

The Washington Redskins went out of their way to bring in Josh Norman this off-season after he unexpectedly became available. It’s not like they needed a huge reason for the move. All-Pro cornerbacks don’t become available in their primes very often. Still, this has made it easy to think he’ll be the sole reason the secondary improves on defense in 2016. In reality the Redskins have another cornerback who will prove instrumental in that mission.

The former 4th round pick has shown steady progress since his rookie season. He produced two interceptions and three forced fumbles last year. Experience and confidence are on the rise. Unusual as it may sound, the arrival of Norman actually might be the final boost for his Pro Bowl status. How? There is no doubt teams won’t be so quick to attack the All-Pro in coverage too often. That means Breeland is going to see a lot of passes throw his way. That means more chances to get beat, but also more chances to make big plays. Voters love stats.
