The Patriots have always been good about finding ways to keep their defensive front seven effective. Lately thought it’s been through a series of veteran free agent signings like Andre Branch and Chris Long. At some point this method can come back to haunt them. It might be coming time where they need to consider finding somebody they can put next to Malcolm Brown on that front line who can give interior presence some extra juice.

One of the standouts in 2015 was LSU defensive tackle Davon Godchaux. He is a classic interior pass rusher in every sense of the word. Though he’s got a larger frame, he’s actually rather light at 280 lbs. That might make him a liability against the run but it also makes his quickness and burst off the snap all the more effective. Godchaux is at his best shooting gaps and knifing into the opposing backfield, either pressuring the quarterback or making tackles for loss. If he can add a little weight, there are several ways the Patriots can make use of his skill.
. DT. LSU. Davon Godchaux . 27. player. 47
