9. Detroit Lions

50. It appears the well is beginning to dry up for the Detroit Lions at the safety position. Glover Quin remains their best option but his playmaking took a significant step backwards last season. He’s 30-years old and there’s no telling how much he has left in the tank. Rafael Bush is a veteran but hardly what one would call a solution to their problem. Hopes are high that 4th round pick Miles Killebrew could be a potential steal, but that’s not a guarantee. If this defense is going to continue to excel, it will be with a strong presence on the back end.
Jabrill Peppers is one of the most exciting names in the scouting community this season. The Michigan safety is a dynamic athlete. Head coach Jim Harbaugh went so far as to say he could see the young player doing very well at five different positions. Peppers is another of those hybrid talents who can be moved around on the defensive side of the ball depending on situation. He’s fast and quick enough to play coverage as a safety but also big and strong enough to drop down into the box as a linebacker. Teryl Austin could do so many things with him.
. S. Michigan. Jabrill Peppers . 9. player
