Thanks to Chip Kelly, the Eagles no longer have their franchises top running back LeSean McCoy in town. Instead they have an injury-prone Ryan Mathews, an aging Darren Sproles, injured rookie Wendell Smallwood, and Kenjon Barner.

Not much is exciting in Philadelphia with Doug Pederson taking over. Second overall pick Carson Wentz is expected to start the season as a redshirt, and not see the field until the end of the season. Sam Bradford will be the starter, and Chase Daniel will be the primary back-up.

With a limited number of high draft picks over the next couple of years thanks to the Wentz trade, the Eagles a picking up talent wherever they can find it. They acquired Titans second round pick Dorial Green-Beckham for a back-up lineman this week, adding a major redzone threat to a shoddy receiving corp.

While next years draft class is littered with talent at running back, the Eagles have too many holes to use a high pick on a back. They need help on the offensive line, cornerback, and receiver.

Placing Karlos Williams into this depth chart helps the Eagles in several ways. They can save up their draft picks, have a reliable young back behind Mathews, and not have a ton of money committed to the position moving forward.

With Williams suspended the first four games to begin the season, Mathews will receive the majority of the carries. Should he go down, Williams will come in fresh and help protect Sam Bradford.
