Roster Battle Update:

Running back

It was an all-around dud of a debut performance for the Bears running game in the opener against Denver. Jeremy Langford, Ka’Deem Carey and Jordan Howard each failed to get anything going on the ground. Thus nobody has a clue who is the leader in the race for the starting job to take over for Matt Forte. Langford remains tops on the depth chart, but that’s a formality at this point. Coaches want to see more from them. A lot more.

Outside Linebacker

Most of the starting jobs are set in stone but the competition for the reserve spots are of major importance with a number of quality talents. Sam Acho has taken the early lead after a solid debut in which he notched a sack. Christian Jones, the former inside linebacker has had a good camp but needs to start producing impact plays. Then there is Roy Robertson-Harris, the highly-touted undrafted free agent who makes his debut in New England. All three will be the ones to watch.

Safety

There really wasn’t much to report from week one on the safeties, good or bad. Adrian Amos and Harold Jones-Quartey remain the penciled starters while rookie Deon Bush is hoping to overtake one of them for a starting job. There is no doubt this could come down to his able to show he can make plays i.e. force turnovers. It’s what the Bears coaches want more of.
