Chicago Bears 2016 Preseason Week Two Preview
By Erik Lambert
Needless to say the Chicago Bears don’t give much credence to the idea of first impressions. Their week one thrashing at the hands of Denver proved that.
The defense looked out of sync early on. The offense looked completely lost. Even the special teams allowed an inexcusable blocked punt for a touchdown. It may have been 22-0 but odds are it should’ve been worse. Good thing the final score means nothing. Head coach John Fox was probably the happiest man in the stadium that night because the performance gave him all the ammunition he needed to remind his players that they aren’t as good as they thought.
It’s going to take hard work for them to get better. To add to the point, he scheduled joint practices with the New England Patriots in advance of their week two meeting in Foxborough. Tom Brady is expected to play. The offense will be going against a Belichick-guided defense. If they were looking for the ideal followup to their humbling against the Broncos, this would be it. Now fans will see whether the Bears are going to start taking this stuff seriously.
It may be preseason, but performing well even in August can building a little momentum going into September. Here is a rundown of what to expect in this game.
