The Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans have been aggressive on the trade market this year, and the two sides struck again with another big deal.

In a surprise move the Titans decided send former 2nd round pick Dorial Green-Beckham to Philadelphia in exchange for offensive lineman Dennis Kelly. What makes it such a shocker at this point is because many felt that Green-Beckham was set to become the top target for Marcus Mariota going into the 2016 season after a solid rookie campaign.

This certainly does call into question whether or not something happened with Green-Beckham behind the scene. Though a highly talented wide receiver, he also came with a lot of off-the-field baggage from Missouri. It seems new head coach Mike Mularkey didn’t see him as a fit for what the Titans wanted to do moving forward. The common line used was “too inconsistent.” Green-Beckham had 32 catches for 549 yards and four touchdowns in his lone year there.

The fact that Tennessee gave him up for Kelly, whom can be considered a primary backup offensive lineman is an even bigger message. At the same time the Philadelphia Eagles have to be happy. They didn’t give up a draft pick and collect a young player who has a chance to become a superstar if he can stay out of trouble. Sam Bradford has to be a happy man, though the long-term plan certainly involves Carson Wentz. One can imagine how good a trio of Green-Beckham, Jordan Matthews and Nelson Agholor might be.

This marks the second time in one offseason the Titans and Eagles have done business, have already agreed to a deal for running back DeMarco Murray a few months ago.
