The College Football Playoffs are only two seasons old, but the system has been an all-around success so far.

The 2015 title game between Alabama & Clemson was arguably the best game of the entire season and pitted two of the top coaches in all of college football.

As solid as the playoff system has been, it seems that it’s only a matter of time until the playoff expands to eight teams, which will REALLY turn things up a notch. Until that time comes, it’s merely speculation.

For the upcoming season, there really are no favorites. Some will point to the Clemson Tigers based on quarterback Deshaun Watson being arguably the best player in the country. More would point to LSU making a run because of the stallion in their backfield in running back Leonard Fournette. There are more than a handful of legit teams who can walk away with the crown this season so here are seven true contenders for this season’s College Football Playoff.
