30. player. 13. This team finished among the worst in 2015. So the last thing the San Diego Chargers needed in this crucial upcoming season were any big distractions. Yet that’s exactly what they’re getting in the ongoing contract fiasco with their 1st round draft pick Joey Bosa. His holdout over negotiations has surpassed two weeks and word out of both camps is that no progress has been made and isn’t likely to be made unless something changes. Not a good sign for a team that likely needs a winning season to avoid a franchise move to a new city.

Their best hope, as always, is Philip Rivers. He’s still under center and now Ken Whisenhunt is back as his offensive coordinator. The last time that happened the Chargers made the playoffs. Perhaps most welcome is the news that the offensive line is healthy and gotten some help in the arrival of veteran center Matt Slauson. If he can help them open up the ground game for Melvin Gordon, this Chargers team may yet have some tricks up its sleeve.
. . . San Diego Chargers
