There were many NFL fans out there who were still holding out hope that former quarterback Tim Tebow would make a return. Such hopes have now ended.

Despite rigorous training and an insistence he’d managed to improve his throwing mechanics since he last played, the 28-year old wasn’t getting any bites from pro teams. Add in his unwillingness to consider changing to another position such as running back or tight end made almost inevitable that he would need to consider a career change. Ever the competitor, Tebow has decided to continue his pursuit of professional sports.

The last time he played baseball on a daily basis was 11 years ago when he was in high school. He was All-State in 2005 as a junior, batting .494 and helping his team to reach the final four of the state playoffs. So it’s not like he’s flying blind into this venture. His athletic ability and respected work ethic should carry him far. All it takes is for one MLB team to have interest. Hopefully he’s given the opportunity.

In celebration of his NFL career coming to an official close, here is a rundown of the top five Tebow moments during his time in pro football.
