Malachi Dupre, WR, LSU: 2016 NFL Draft Preview
Malachi Dupre is the other star on LSU’s potent offense. While Leonard Fournette has stolen the show as the Tigers best player, Dupre is arguably just as much of a threat as a receiving option.
He’s a tall, lanky receiver who has soft hands and a high football IQ. Had Dupre come out last year, he more than likely would’ve been one of the top receivers selected.
His decision to return to LSU will push him to the top of the rankings and may be the first receiver taken off the board.

What to like
What’s not to like about Malachi Dupre? He’s a tall wide receiver who has a large receiving range from top to bottom. Dupre’s biggest asset is his hands. He knows how to catch any pass from any angle and his hands are soft as butter.
A great catch above demonstrates his ability to leap and bring the ball down.
Another great asset to Dupre’s game is his blocking ability. Many receivers don’t give blocking the time of day, but Dupre can be seen giving an all out effort on nearly every running play.
Dupre wasn’t used to the best of his abilities, but when he was given the opportunity he showed up. He may be one of those players that doesn’t get a chance to truly shine until he gets to the big leagues, similar to Odell Beckham.
What not to like
While the Tigers have been relying on Leonard Fournette as the go to, it has taken away from some of the other players and their production. Dupre LOOKS like a player than can catch for over 1000 yards but until the ball is spread out more, we’ll never know. Dupre is also a thin wide receiver, at 6’2 190 pounds he has the frame to add a few more pounds and be even more dominant on jump ball opportunities.
Outlook
Dupre looks like one of the best wide receivers in the SEC, if not the country. The Tigers should look to air it out more and give Fournette somewhat of a break.
If Dupre can keep up the standard he’s been holding, then there’s an opportunity for him to be the top wide receiver selected in the 2017 NFL Draft.
