Over the years, schools within the Football Championship Subdivision, or FCS, have steadily produced quality NFL products. Some of the most notable names in the league currently have scratched and clawed from the FCS to NFL prominence. From Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco to Colts defensive end Robert Mathis to Washington cornerback Josh Norman, the FCS has grown into a reliable focal point for many NFL scouts.

As we focus on Eastern Washington University, there is one name that is sure to grab the attention of NFL scouts during the season, if he hasn’t nabbed their observation already. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp has truly filled up the stat sheet over the years and is a legitimate prospect who can be a well-rounded addition to a team. Here is his scouting report.

Measurables

Height: 6’1

Weight: 195 lbs

Strengths: A natural slot receiver with size & crisp route-running…..Excellent hands; will make the extra effort to haul in the difficult ones…..Definition of production: at least 93 catches in each of his three collegiate seasons, at least 1,431 yards in each season, 56 TDs in three seasons…..Great producer of yards after the catch…..Tough to bring down as a tackler; Kupp will fight for extra yards…..A consistent playmaker…..Solid footwork

Weaknesses: Doesn’t possess breakaway speed…..Kupp doesn’t have a high ceiling; may be close to his peak as a receiver…..Level of competition may cut into his rampant production…..Agility will be a question at the next level.

Bottom line: Kupp is a receiving monster at the FCS level. Posting 21, 16, and 19 touchdown catches in during his three seasons respectively is impressive regardless of the competition level. The size that he also possesses creates mismatches with undersized defensive backs. At the pro level, Kupp may never be a superstar but he will be a welcoming addition to a receiver corps and provide a sense of reliability when he builds cohesion with his quarterback. Another season in 2016 similar to the ones he has already produced in the past can truly aid his draft stock. Kupp is a warrior. Currently, I view him as a late round (5th-7th) selection but a dominating 2016 season and solid workouts will elevate him to a possible 3rd or 4th round in 2017.
