2016 NFL Training Camp: 5 Biggest Roster Wild Cards
By Erik Lambert
Victor Cruz (WR, New York Giants)
"“Yeah, 100 percent, going out there today and going against the defense a little bit and having the fans there watching, it was definitely the real day one. It felt good, man. I got through it, didn’t feel have any setbacks, didn’t feel any pain, and now I just build on that.’’"
Things have gone downhill the past few years for Victor Cruz. He hasn’t been anywhere close to the dominant receiving presence he was back in 2010 and 2011. Recurring leg injuries have kept him sidelined since October of 2014. Many wonder if the New York Giants are about ready to pull the plug, but thus far they’ve stayed the course in hopes he can regain his old form and join with emerging star Odell Beckham Jr. Cruz has finally been cleared for practice, which is a welcome sign. Still, with him turning 30-years old and suffering injuries to arguably the worst area possible for a wide receiver, it’s anybody’s guess as to how much he has lost and can regain.
