                                                                        Key Players/Starters

As the starter at QB, Lock will have some notable weapons at receiver. Junior receivers Nate Brown (27 catches, 326 yards, four TDs) and J’Mon Moore (29 catches, 350 yards, three TDs) are the two starters plus the receiver group gets a key transfer from former Alabama wide out Chris Black. The trio of receivers along with the JUCO pickup of Natereace Strong will at least give the offense a solid foundation as they attempt to improve on last season’s below average play. 6’2 receiver Dominic Hollins is another JUCO addition to the offense and will see considerable amount of playing time during the season. At the center spot, Alec Abeln get the dubious role of replacing the reliability of former starter Evan Boehm.

Defensive end has been a constant hub of quality NFL talent over the years and the team has a starting tandem of last year’s top two sack leaders in Charles Harris (56 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks) and Walter Brady (39 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks). Harris is a preseason All-SEC second team nominee and rightfully so as the pass rusher is expected to have a huge 2016 season. There is buzz surrounding defensive tackle Terry Breckner Jr. The number one player in the state of Illinois and fifth best defensive tackle in the nation during the 2015 recruiting cycle is next in line to follow the footsteps of former Mizz standout Sheldon Richardson.

Starting free safety Anthony Sherrils (64 tackles, six pass deflections) and starting corner Aarion Penton (59 tackles, eight pass deflections) provide veteran leadership at the last level of the defense.
