Key Players/Starters

Even with the presence of Kaaya at quarterback, the running duo of Yearby & Walton can make life much easier for the passing game but that itself is predicated off the performance of the offensive line. The line as a whole was unreliable in 2015 in both phases of run & pass blocking. The talent is there with veteran left tackle Trevor Darling, junior left guard KC McDermott, and sophomore right tackle Tyree St. Louis and it may be the difference in one coaching staff to another as far as results go.

  • The speedy Stacy Coley (47 catches, 689 yards, four touchdowns) stepped up big time in 2015 and gives Kaaya a new #1 target. Tight end David Njoku (21 catches, 362 yards, and one touchdown) may be the best tight end in the conference that no one is talking about. His play is expected to be amped up in 2016 as well.

It doesn’t take long to realize that Muhammad is the best defensive lineman on the team and the combination of Muhammad and Chad Thomas (18 tackles, 1.5 tackle for loss, one sack) has enough raw talent to be one of the best duos in the country. The hiring of Richt and his staff can go a long way to squeeze the potential out of this group.

Safeties Rayshawn Jenkins (52 tackles, three interceptions, four passes defensed) and Jamal Carter (48 tackles, one interception) are a couple of vets that Coach Diaz can feel comfortable about on the back-end. Also, the linebacker unit has a little issue with depth but having an athlete such as Grace at the position is a saving grace somewhat. Expect the senior linebacker to be around the football on several occasions.
