College Football Preview: Georgia Bulldogs
Key Players/Starters
Greyson Lambert is listed as the starter at quarterback currently but that is about as tentative as any other position on the roster. Lambert was the definition of unsteady during the 2015 season as he had five games of 50% or under in completion percentage but went 24-of-25 for 330 yards against South Carolina. Behind him is former four-star recruit Brice Ramsey who has the talent to easily unseat Lambert. At receiver, Godwin, Isaiah McKenzie (10 catches, 123 yards), and Reggie Davis (12 catches, 187 yards, TD) will be called upon to carry the load at the receiver position. The status of Chubb is still in the air at the moment, so don’t be surprised if Michel and senior RB Brendan Douglas (36 carries, 140 yards) are receiving a number of carries to start the season. The O-Line will have new starters at the tackle position with Isaiah Wynn and Brandon Kublanow returning at the left guard and center position respectively.
The entire starting secondary returns with strong safety Quincy Mauger (58 tackles, five pass deflections) and the free safety in Sanders patrolling the field. Corners Aaron Davis and Malkom Parrish collected 46 and 42 tackles respectively and completes a secondary that Smart can lean on to provide veteran presence on the field. To fit the pass rushing void, OLB Lorenzo Carter (19 tackles, one forced fumble) jumps ahead of the pack as Smart will look for a few pass rushers to rotate and provide stability. Redshirt junior linebacker Davin Bellamy (33 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks) will also be looked upon to get after the opposing QB.
