Pro Football Focus hates Bears RB Jeremy Langford
In case you were thinking about drafting Jeremy Langford to your fantasy football team, you may want to re-consider, per Pro Football Focus…
Jeremy Langford may have been an asset down the stretch for your fantasy football team last year, but according to Pro Football Focus, he absolutely sucks.
In this piece from PFF, there are at least 1,000 words highlighting why Langford’s rookie season was a complete mirage — seven reasons and a summation of how terrible he played in his inaugural season.
There was even a table that featured the name ‘Trent Richardson’ and ‘Tim Hightower’.
Yikes.
In 16 games with the Bears last season, Langford racked up 537 yards and six rushing touchdowns, catching another 22 passes and hitting paydirt once through the air. Here’s a little snippet from the article mentioned above:
“Not a believer in the PFF ratings? The offensive line excuse still doesn’t explain why Forte’s production was much better than what we saw from Langford. Forte averaged 4.1 YPC, including 2.2 after contact. He forced 24 missed tackles for a rate of 0.11. His elusive rating (24.9) and 15-plus-yard run percentage (13.7) were both uninspiring, but still well ahead of Langford. Albeit on a small sample, Ka’Deem Carey was also more efficient than Langford.
Frankly, so was the entire league.”
WHEW.
I guess the author really wants to make sure you don’t draft Langford, because he must really care about you making money in your fantasy football league. The piece calls Langford an inefficient runner, a poor receiver, a poor blocker, and says that none of it should be a surprise to anyone.

Hopefully, Langford can make some strides and be the featured back the Bears are banking on him being. They also have Jordan Howard, a fifth round pick and rookie out of Indiana that has a ton of promise as a big play back. There’s never been a question about Langford’s deep speed, but his ability — or lack thereof — to break tackles is a concern and John Fox is typically a coach that likes to ride the hot hand at running back.
Ka’Deem Carey and Jacquizz Rodgers could also push for some carries in Chicago, but there’s one thing I know for sure — Pro Football Focus doesn’t recommend drafting Langford in fantasy, or using him on Sundays.
We’re pulling for him to improve and have a big year as a second-year back.
