Freshmen Ready to Make an Impact

Besides the aforementioned Aussie punter Josh Growden, the Tigers shouldn’t have any freshmen starting when the college football season kicks off.

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any who won’t play or make some sort of impact.

LSU’s top recruit Kristian Fulton is in the mix to play some nickel and dime at cornerback. Fellow freshman Saivion Smith has the build to line up at either corner or safety, as both highly touted recruits could push for major minutes in the fall.

On the defensive line, Rashard Lawrence’s size and technique makes him virtually a shoe-in as a rotational nose guard. Of the plethora of talented freshmen linebackers at LSU, Devin White has the best chance of receiving significant time. His physicality, power, and build provide a huge boost to a relatively undersized linebacking corps.

Offensively, I wouldn’t plan on seeing much in the way of freshmen.

Receivers Dee Anderson and Stephen Sullivan are two guys that may be called upon at some point during the year. After a strong spring game, Anderson seems to have a tighter grip on things.

Overall, the Tigers put together another fine recruiting class, one that could pay dividends when problems such as injuries arise.
