Los Angeles Rams:  The Marshall Faulk trade

By 1999, running back Marshall Faulk had established himself as one of the best in the league. However, a rift had begun to form between him and the coaching staff. Coupled with disagreements over money, the Indianapolis Colts felt it was more favorable for them to move on from him rather than risk a potentially toxic situation. With help from Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson, the St. Louis Rams were tipped off to the fact that Faulk was available and decided to make a deal.

He wasn’t just a hit from the start. He was a superstar. Faulk produced three-straight seasons over 2,000 yards from scrimmage in a season. During that span he won league MVP honors, helped the Rams reach two Super Bowls and won a Lombardi trophy that 1999 season. In total he would produce over 12,000 yards and 93 touchdowns in a Rams uniform. To this day it could be argued he might be the most versatile running back of all-time, and never was that clearer than during his time as the ground element of the Greatest Show on Turf.
