AFC West: Predictions For Each Team
Denver Broncos: Rookie RB Devontae Booker will be the team’s leading rusher
The running game for the Broncos offense in 2015 was a middle-of-the-pack unit for Denver but at times, the running element was more reliable than the passing game. What many thought would be a breakout season for CJ Anderson, turned out to be an average one as change-of-pace back Ronnie Hillman led the team in rushing with 863 yards and seven touchdowns. The two backs return in 2016 but there is a new face to lead the charge.
The Broncos used a fourth round pick on Booker out of the University of Utah and possibly walked away with one of the biggest steals in the entire draft. Booker ran for 2,773 yards and 21 touchdowns in just two seasons at the collegiate level.
Throw on some film of Booker and he has a style that is quite similar to former Texans running back Arian Foster. Booker also caught 80 balls in 2015 and provides quality in that department as well. The Broncos may have had success in the past from Anderson and Hillman but Booker is the type of versatile running back that will soon win a starting job in Denver and be the more reliable option.
