60. When talking about the Minnesota Vikings teams between 1969 and 1976 that dominated the NFC and reached four Super Bowls, most of it surrounds either their suffocating defense or the singular brilliance of quarterback Fran Tarkenton. Many don’t realize so much of their success during that stretch should be credited to another Hall of Famer that was in their midst. Then again, such is the life of an offensive lineman. Always overlooked and underrated.

It’s worth noting that six times during that stretch the Vikings had a top 10 offense. The singular constant through all of that was not Tarkenton, but offensive tackle Ron Yary. He was the first at his position every to be taken #1 overall and proved worth it and more. The only time he missed games in his career was three games in 1969 due to military commitments and two 1980 because of a broken ankle. By the time he retired he was a six-time All-Pro and members of the 1970s All-Decade team.
. OT. USC. Ron Yary . 6. player
