87. The hype was off the charts by the time Cam Newton reached the NFL draft in 2011. Here was a Heisman trophy winner who’d just led Auburn to the national championship and was an absolute freak of nature as an athlete. Could he have that same success in the pros where the defenses were as fast as him? From his rookie year on the answer was an emphatic yes. Newton set all sorts of record his first year in Carolina including an absurd 13 rushing touchdowns. By far the most ever for a quarterback. <p> </p> <p>Yet what has stood out the most who how much he’s progressed as a passer. Early on he was using his natural physical talent to make plays, but this past season he showed that he had finally cracked the code to attacking opponents through the air with timing, anticipation and finesse from inside the pocket. The results were a 15-1 season and his first MVP award. At just 27-years old his best years may still be ahead of him, and that’s a scary thought.</p>. QB. Auburn. Cam Newton . 16. player
