You never know what will happen at the NFL Draft

Anyone who follows the NFL and/or the NFL Draft intensely knows how big of a crapshoot it is. Out of the 250+ players taken, very few ever make it as quality starters at this level.

You also never know who will jump up and steal your guy right out from under you. Teams trade up or even change plans at the last second to reach for someone on their board. It happens all the time, but we just never know it.

Thanks to the new Amazon series “All or Nothing”, featuring the Arizona Cardinals season this year, we got a look inside their draft room back in 2015. All of the Arizona coaches and executives were eyeing up running backs, and Nebraska’s Ameer Abdullah was on their mind.

Then this happened.

The Lions shocked the Cardinals and stole Abdullah right out from under them.

Luckily for the Arizona Cardinals, David Johnson was available in the third round out of Northern Iowa.

While his situation in Arizona could have been much different than in Detroit, Abdullah did not fare well in his rookie year. He had six fewer touchdowns compared to Johnson, and only made nine starts.

For the Cardinals, it looks like everything worked out for the best. They took Markus Golden after losing Abdullah, and still got a decent running back in David Johnson.

While a lot of NFL teams do not like doing shows like Hard Knocks or this new show All or Nothing, this is the kind of insider stuff NFL fans crave. People would pay a fortune to sit in draft rooms or at in the offices during the trade deadline.
