Time and time again, Howie Roseman has done the impossible as the General Manager of the Philadelphia Eagles. The trades the guy makes and the contracts he is able to negotiate are unrivaled in todays’ NFL.

People mock Howie Roseman cause he never played the game at a professional level and he looks more like an accountant than a football guy. As long as my General Manager can make moves that help my team today and tomorrow, I don’t care what his background is.

He cleaned up the mess Chip Kelly left behind, and was able to rid the awful contracts Kelly agreed to in moves that greatly benefited the Eagles and resulted in them drafting Carson Wentz.

Let’s examine some of the moves Howie Roseman has made in his two stints and the Eagles General Manager.

More from NFL Mocks

  • Players Traded For – Darren Sproles, DeMeco Ryans, Daryl Tapp, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Carson Wentz (draft pick)
  • Players Traded Away – Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb, Kiko Alonso, Byron Maxwell, DeMarco Murray
  • Players Signed/Extended – Jason Avant, Cedric Thronton, Jason Peters, Connor Barwin, Cary Williams, Michael Vick, Evan Mathis, Brandon Brooks, Rodney McLeod, Ruben Randle, Leodis McKelvin, Zach Ertz, Sam Bradford, Chase Daniel, Fletcher Cox, Vinny Curry, Lane Johnson, Malcolm Jenkins

I see a lot of good guys coming/staying in the organization during Roseman’s tenure and a lot of bad contracts going out the door.

Additionally, he was able to move from the 13th overall pick to the 8th, to the 2nd overall pick while clearing cap space and only trading a limited amount of draft picks.

When it comes to trades, I haven’t seen a horrible one from Howie Roseman yet. To get a stud middle line backer such as DeMeco Ryans for two late draft picks may have been his most underrated move of them all.

Regardless of what some fans may say, Howie Roseman is on the fast track for General Manager of the Year after clearing all of the horrible contracts Chip Kelly brought on, while still signing big pieces such as McLeod and Brooks in free agency.

The man is a genius when it comes to managing the salary cap and writing reasonable contracts, and he deserves more respect from the fans.
