Nate Robinson has a long-standing reputation as a flamboyant NBA player who has a led a productive journey career.  Now, he’s planning to switch leagues than just teams.

Robinson is a 32-year old point guard from Seattle.  He’s logged time with no fewer than eight pro basketball teams since 2005.  A three-time Slam Dunk champion, he has averaged 11 points, 3.0 assists and 2.3 rebounds for his career.  He’s also delivered some of the more memorable performances in recent memory despite standing just 5’9” in a game that averages north of 6’5”.

There is no question he’s quite the athlete, and that’s why he’s made it his latest mission to exit the sport in which he’s spent more than a decade and break into the NFL.  With his hometown team no less as the Seattle Seahawks have already been in contact with him as Pro Football Talk relayed.

"“Robinson played cornerback at the University of Washington in 2002 before turning his full attention to basketball and said earlier this year that he’d like to find out if he can jump back onto the gridiron. Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports that the Seahawks were curious about the answer to that question and that Robinson is trying out for the team on Monday.”"

Granted, it’s not quite the LeBron James theory that has dominated the football landscape for years, but it’s interesting nevertheless.  College basketball players jumping to pro football is nothing new but it’s extremely rare for an actual NBA name to do so.  No doubt Robinson would love to add that to his list of accomplishments before he retires.
