Seems that the Baltimore Ravens just can’t catch a break at wide receiver.  What can they do now to help plug up loss of Breshad Perriman again?

One has to feel for the young wide receiver.  All he wants to do is play football and his body keeps betraying him before he even gets a chance to step on the field.  Now he’s done for the year again, and the Ravens are left wondering what to do next.

Adam Schefter of ESPN had the news.

"“Update on newest knee injury for Ravens WR Breshad Perriman: He suffered a partially torn ACL in his left knee and will visit Dr. James Andrews on Monday to determine if he needs potential season-ending surgery, per source. He missed last season with a partially torn PCL in his right knee.”"

There is no longer any doubt that the signing of veteran Mike Wallace was a heady move by GM Ozzie Newsome, but it doesn’t offer much comfort regarding the passing game.  Wallace is not the same player he was back in his Pittsburgh days.  Steve Smith is coming off a torn Achilles.  Kamar Aiken played well but can’t be expected to carry the passing game by himself.  This team needs another option.

Given the success they’ve had with veteran players in the past, there is no doubt they should have some intriguing options who are still available on the market.  Here are five names worth exploring.

Roddy White

The former four-time Pro Bowler isn’t the same player he was five years ago but there is a reasonable chance he has one more good year left in his 35-year old body.  He finished 2015 with just 506 yards but had 921 the year before that.  It’s all about managing his snaps and not leaning on him too much.

Brian Hartline

After back-to-back seasons of 1,000 yards in 2012 and 2013, Brian Hartline made the mistake of leaving Miami for the quagmire in Cleveland.  Not surprisingly he was ineffective in his lone season with the Browns.  At age 30 there’s good reason to think he may yet have gas in the tank to regain that once formidable form.

Dwayne Bowe

It really is perplexing how far Bowe has fallen.  He looked like a star in the make back in 2010 but has steadily regressed since then, bottoming out with a forgettable stint in Cleveland.  Is it physical problems?  Is it loss of confidence?  The Ravens are a team known for reclamation projects, so why not kick the tires on this former Pro Bowler.

Andre Roberts

Primarily a slot receiver who thrive in Arizona and like others on this list thought he could do it anywhere.  He was proven wrong, signing an ill-fated deal in Washington that lasted just two season.  The good news for him is he’s just 28-years old, so there is time for him to get back on track.

Hakeem Nicks

He may be nothing more than a big name at this point.  Hakeem Nicks was once a hero in New York, the go-to guy for the Giants during their epic, unlikely run to a championship in 2011 who made big plays every week.  A far cry from the man who managed 54 yards total last season.  Baltimore may be his last hope.
