The Browns shocked nearly everyone when they selected four wide receivers in the draft (Seth DeValve, the former wide receiver from Princeton, is expected to transition to tight end). Early on in the draft process many expected the Browns to go after some of the taller jump ball receivers like Laquon Treadwell, Josh Doctson and Michael Thomas.

It turns out that before any of those players were off the board, the Browns chose Corey Coleman and made him the the first receiver drafted in 2016. While Coleman doesn’t possess the same size as the others, he does make up for it by being explosive in his skill set. Ricardo Louis had the pleasure of being one of the Browns fourth round draft picks and was later accompanied by Jordan Payton and Rashard Higgins, both of whom were drafted in the fifth round.

Drafting four wide receivers may look careless and a bit extreme by some, but the Browns went out of their way to assure themselves a solid future at the position. Each of these receivers possesses a quality that can help spell success for this team, and could quite possibly give the Browns one of the more well rounded receiving corps. It all may not happen this year, but there’s a lot to like about the new hands in town.

Next: Corey Coleman
